2007 Cross Country Trip; California to Maine and Back

We have a new 2007 Holiday Rambler Endeavor.

We are still working and only have 6 weeks to get to the East Coast and back.  Wow, it sure seemed like a lot of time when we were planning it.  Left the end of July and crossed the country in 6 days by driving 600 miles per day.  Walt was beat at the end of each day.  We celebrated by staying an extra day in Buffalo and went to Niagara Falls.

We arrived on day 7 in the Boston area.  We ended up staying at Normandy Farms in Foxboro, MA.  Walt’s home town of Walpole is only a few miles away.

After a week of family and sightseeing we headed up to Maine to a town called Belfast and a wonderful campground Walt found while surfing the web.   It is called The Moorings and has only 20 or so spots.  We got a spot looking right onto Penobscot Bay.  Wow, lobstermen were close by pulling up their traps with their daily catch.

After 2 ½ weeks with friends and family we headed back to the West.  We wanted to go a bit slower on the return and stop in at the Monaco service center in Indiana for some warranty work.
We got to experience our first tornado alert in Elkhart, Indiana.  Not fun, but it missed us!

Spent more time at the service center then we wanted to but used the time to visit the local towns that have a large Amish population.

PC is a wonderful traveler.   We enjoy having her along with us.

Due to delay at the service center in Elkhart, we will need to skip our visit to South Dakota.  There is always the next trip!
We were almost home when we had a near miss on the Interstate 80 near Tahoe.   A truck in front of us dropped a fire hose with brass fittings and we had to run over it.  Straddled it with the RV but the pull car got the brunt of the hit.  Blew out the front tire and caused some front end damaged.  So close to home too.
