Winter 2017 Arizona

Early January we headed to Lake Havasu for sun and fun.   January was very cold (for Arizona) and we even had an inch of rain.   That is a lot!   Their average yearly rainfall is only 3.8 inches.   Everyone anticipates a pretty wildflower season in March.  The desert didn't disappoint us.  Ocotillo and other cactus were beautiful.

Randy and Judy and Mo and Joe are here in the park.  They both have ATV's that seat 4.  Patty and Kent arrived and joined with us for a desert ride.  There are lots of trails right outside of our park.  You can go for miles and miles.  Don't shower before you go.....lots of dust on a desert ride!   At least a third of the owners in our park have ATV's.  Groups go out on rides frequently.

Soon after that desert ride we bought our own Razor.  It is a Polaris 900 and it seats 2.   We have gone on several rides; the longest so far was 35 miles one way.....on desert roads.  Bumpy but fun.  Went to Topock for lunch with 3 other razors.

Patty and Kent stayed for a couple of weeks.  We all went to the Western Winter Pyrotechnic Blast.    It is 5 days of fireworks every year.   Each night there are firework displays that last for 2+ hours!   It was absolutely fantastic.  The entire sky above us was a massive display of fireworks.  We are already planning on going for next year.   If you are in the area in February don't miss it.  It is Feb 15-18th in 2018.

We spent lots of days out on the lake on our boat.  Joe and Mo bought a new boat too.  Now several couples can enjoy a lake day.

Sister Joanne and her husband Brian and my nephew Kelly and his wife Margot and their son Dylan came down in April.   They rented a house in town.  Kelly is a bass tournament fisherman and he brought his boat to practice.  He must have had 30 rods and reels on that boat!!!  Everyone had a great time.

Easter at Pirates Den
We drove up to Oatman to show the burros to our great nephew Dylan.  He liked the dollar bills better.

Our decision to buy a place down here was really a good one.  Great people in the park.  Must have something to do with the fact that they are ALL RETIRED!!!

Lots to do down here.  Bass tourniments, car shows, hot air balloon festivals, etc.  Can't wait till next year!
